Welcome, Band Directors
We have reserved this space for our colleagues teaching middle school and high school band. Here you will find valuable information and resources created to help you and your band program.
Tri-State Band Festival
We invite you to send your top high school juniors and seniors to the annual Tri-State Band Festival and Conducting Clinic. For over 30 years, the Tri-State Festival has connected students and their directors with first-class conductors and master teachers from across the entire country. Some of our previous guest conductors include Jerry Junkin, Michael Haithcock, H. Robertt Reynolds, Frank Ticheli, and Kevin Sedatole, to name but a few. Nomination forms are send to high school band directors in Florida, Georgia and Alabama each fall. Details for the Fall 2017 Festival are coming soon.
High School Band Day
We are pleased to announce that our 2017 High School Band Days will be Saturday, September 9 (Univ. of Louisiana-Monroe) and Saturday, November 18 (Delaware State). That’s right, once again we are offering a choice of TWO dates. (Game times have not been announced for either game.)
Band Day is open to all area high school bands. Expose your students to the world-renown Marching Chiefs as they perform a pregame concert, during the game, and at halftime. Free admission to the game is provided to high school band students, their directors, and (in restricted quantity) official chaperones.
In 2016, thousands of high school band students enjoyed the sights and sounds of college football. We cordially invite all high school band directors to bring their students to one of our 2017 High School Band Days.
TICKETS ARE EXTREMELY LIMITED.
Band Directors, call the band office (850-644-3507) and ask to be placed on the Band Day Priority Mailing List. The schools on the priority list get the first chance at tickets. (Sorry, we can only accept priority mailing list calls from High School Directors, not students or parents.)
Visit a Marching Chiefs’ Rehearsal
If your school is within a reasonable drive to Tallahassee, we invite you to bring your students to observe one of our regular season rehearsals. The Marching Chiefs hold practice (most) every weekday, Monday through Friday, during the fall semester. We have bleacher seats that will comfortably hold up to 100 students.
Before scheduling your visit, call the band office (850-644-3507) to confirm that rehearsal will indeed be held on your selected date. Sometimes we are not at the field (recording sessions) and we often take Fridays off if there is no game on Saturday. Best to check before planning a trip.
And keep in mind that we can not control the weather. In the event of inclement weather, we are often forced away from the practice field. Check the forecast before leaving your hometown. Our Twitter feed also includes late-breaking schedule changes so you might want to sign up for that as well.
